Cafeteria Lunch

At lunch, I noticed that the students were eating very quickly and not making chit chat with each other. Later I found out that it's rude to talk while eating. They save their chit chat for after the meal.
Dr. Cate Crosby is faculty in the TESOL/AL Program at Columbia Teachers College. She obtained her Ph.D. in Foreign and Second Language Education from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Her publications include articles in the English for Specific Purposes Journal and Essential Teacher, and chapters in the Handbook of Research on Computer-Enhanced Language Acquisition and Learning and Generation 1.5 in College Composition: Teaching Academic Writing to U.S.-Educated Learners of ESL. Her research interests include second language writing, technology in the language classroom, Generation 1.5 learners, teacher education, and community engagement.
