Classroom Change

Today our classes were moved to the fourth floor of the Education Building (pictured above). Previously, our classes were on the first, third and fourth floors of this building. (I'm not sure why we moved.) Anyway, it seems that this is where we'll be for the rest of the month.

I took an inventory of the resources we have access to and was happy to discover that these classrooms have a computer, computer projector and Internet access. This was an important discovery because again today, there was some overlap in the teaching materials I and another teacher were using in one of the classes. Consequently, I've decided to use episodes of the Simpsons to teach listening, speaking and vocabulary skills. Since our current theme is Families and Relationships, I thought this might be an interesting American family to introduce them to.

Comments:
Hi Everyone:*
This is just a quick note to remind you of something we
discussed before you left Columbus: the value of working on listening
as
well as speaking, since listening provides input for speaking. It might
be
worthwhile (as we discussed before) to include some listening
exercises,
tasks, etc. If the students aren't listening well, they're probably
having
problems speaking. So, telling them that you'd like to focus to some
extent on listening, and why, might be useful.
Hope this helps.
I'm thinking of all of you and hope things are going well
for you.

Dr. H
